Happy Father's Day

My dad, George Britton (1915-2010), was a folksinger, performer, and guitar teacher who joyously shared his love of music with thousands of students in the Philadelphia area and audiences across the country. Among the countless lessons he taught me was how to use numbers to understand the way chords relate, a language that lives on in my brain and guides me every day as I play, write, teach, and listen to music.

I designed and hand-knit this sweater as a birthday present for my dad back in the 80's. He wore it proudly for many years, bragging about it in his booming baritone to anyone who would listen. It now hangs in my office, an ever-present reminder of his continuing legacy.
